Computing at Hormead School
Intent
At Hormead School, our Computing curriculum is designed to help every child flourish in an increasingly digital world. Rooted in our Christian vision — “Love of learning, love of life itself, and love of God” — we teach children to see technology as a powerful tool for creativity, communication and future opportunity.
From Early Years to Year 4, we build knowledge and skills progressively across Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Literacy and Online Safety. We want our children to be confident users of technology who understand not only how to use it, but why it matters and how to use it responsibly.
Online safety is central to our approach. We nurture a respectful and secure digital environment by:
- Delivering a progressive online safety curriculum from Early Years to Year 4
- Maintaining clear policies for staff, volunteers and families
- Providing regular training for staff and governors
- Using filtering, monitoring and secure data systems to protect all users
Through this carefully structured curriculum, we prepare children to become responsible, ethical and thoughtful digital citizens.
